In 1966 the Barbados Family Planning Association as we were known then open its doors on Bay Street, It was to be a revolutionary provider of low cost Family Planning and Sexual Health. The Association's clinic grew As we modernize, update, and expand our services for a more modern Barbados, we will take a more modern name simply the BFPA. We will not forget our roots and we will protect all that we have achieved in the past as it relates to the protection of rights, the promotion of equity and continue to do more. We will utilize our new location to chart a new direction in Barbadian healthcare which is client-centered, socially responsible and focused on those who need stigma free, rights based and empowered driven healthcare. Welcome to the BFPA experience.The BFPA Community Health Centre will be providing medical and clinical services four major types of clinic categories with and emphasis on provision to the most vulnerable groups and persons in Barbadian society.

Primary Care clinics
The BFPA's Primary Care Clinics cover a wide range of routine and preventive healthcare services, such as: annual physicals; laboratory testing, such as blood tests and urine tests; vaccinations; screening and treatment for conditions like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes; care for minor symptoms, such as sore throat, cough, or nasal congestion; treatment for common illnesses like colds, the flu, or Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs); and lastly treatment of some injuries, such as minor cuts or burns. The doctors you will see at a primary care clinic practice general medicine in their field. This can include family medicine, internal medicine, or pediatrics.
Sexual Health Clinics
Our sexual Health specific focus on sexual and reproductive health for both women , men, persons who are sexually diverse and those the highest risk for adverse sexual health effects. You can visit our clinic for many types of services, such as: access to Contraceptive Methods, such as condoms, oral contraceptives (birth control pills), or Intra-Uterine Devices (IUDs); screening and treatment for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs); pelvic exams; screening for some types of cancers, such as cervical cancer, breast cancer, prostate and testicular cancer; pregnancy testing and prenatal exams; vaccinations for diseases like HPV or hepatitis B; HIV services, including testing, treatment, and access to preventive medications (PrEP and PEP); help with men’s health conditions, like erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation; infertility counselling or referrals since 1998; vasectomies; crisis pregnancy management services or referrals; counselling and support following sexual assault or intimate partner violence.
Men's Clinic
The BFPA will continue its expansion and optimisation in the delivery of Urology and Men's Healthcare services and provide quality care for conditions that affect men of all ages. The BFPA will the latest methods, research and technology to deliver world class, affordable care that is tailored to fit the individuals. Barbados is one of the highest rank countries for prostate disease in the world and through our mail clinic we attempt to make men your or old to develop good health seeking behaviour practices.

The BFPA Pediatric and Youth Clinic (Coming Soon)
​The BFPA Pediatric and Youth Clinic is a clinic made for youth designed by youth. We are leveraging our existing group of experts general practitioners, gynecologists, surgeons, nurses, psychologist, social workers, and adding a pediatrician, lactation consultants and child life specialists that provides comprehensive care to neonates, children, teens, adolescents, youth and their families.

We will be offering safe and quality care to children and families closer to home. Parents are partners in children’s care and are included in decision-making. Our team of experts is committed to working with a child’s parents, doctor and other community resources to care for their specific healthcare needs

The BFPA Ambulatory Surgical Clinic
The BFPA surgery was designed to focus on primarily providing minor surgical procedures at its clinic whether it be circumcisions, installation of Intrauterine Device or any similar related surgery. It has grown significantly being a go too low cost surgery for those clients who are not able to afford exorbitant costs from other surgeries on island. It has significantly expanded and many more people have found themselves at our doors. The relocation will see the BFPA reopening a state of the art surgical theatre in a clean new space.
