I was certified in 2003 and had bought this book and the accompanying math text and thought they were excellent (my lowest percentage was a 92 on any section of the test). I've also used parts of this book to teach certification reviews for others (and they ALL passed). The best part of this text in my opinion is how it doesn't bore you with excessive details that you don't need to know as a technician and gives you a quick and excellent overview of what you need to know for the exam. I don't think it was to generalized in the least. Obviously you may know the information in some sections but hopefully if you are going to take the exam you aren't starting from scratch with pharmacy knowledge regardless of which text you use. I also speak from an experienced perspective as I was a science major in college as well as preparing to take this exam and had no complaints with it...I wish I had more textbooks just like it! We primarily used the Delmar text that was referred to in certification reviews I helped teach as well (much to my dismay) and I thought that it (Delmar) was a giant waste of time as did the students. If you want a textbook with WAY more information than you need (and most of it is wrong) then Delmar is what you want. If you want a short and to the point text that doesn't bore you like a regular text I definitely suggest this APhA book.Name: B. Sam Houston and these books in combination with what I learned at AMEDD helped me pass my exam. Just took it this past December and received high marks on my results.
